That Special Piece
At the end of a long hall in a 1950s ranch, the owner removed the closet, drywalled it, and installed canned lighting in the ceiling. It was a beautiful space that needed that special piece.
Pricelli decided to find just the right linen press to go in the new niche. A linen press is especially found in the South. Through time, Southerners who lived in big houses usually had a linen press and this kind of antique can be found in antique stores in the South.
These cabinets were originally built out of woods such as oak, walnut, or mahogany. They were specifically designed for storing bed linens, table napkins, clothing, and other textiles. They were made principally in the 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries and are now considered decorative examples of antique furniture.
For this particular project, Pricelli found that special piece: A linen press made from cherry. It fit the space perfectly and the lighting made it sing even more.
